Please read these Terms of Use carefully before using Leafzine. By creating an account or accessing the platform, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1 Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Leafzine ("we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the Leafzine platform, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
By registering for an account, accessing, or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference.
2 Eligibility
To use Leafzine, you must:
- Be at least 16 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is greater)
- Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract
- Not be prohibited from using the Service under applicable law
- Not be located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo or designated as a terrorist-supporting country
If you are registering on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
3 Accounts & Registration
To access most features of Leafzine, you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
- Maintain and promptly update your account information
- Keep your password confidential and not share it with any third party
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
- Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that provide false information or violate these Terms.
5 User Content
Your Ownership
You retain ownership of all content you create, upload, or publish on Leafzine ("User Content"). We do not claim ownership of your publications or materials.
License to Leafzine
By publishing content on Leafzine, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, distribute, and deliver your content to readers through the Service. This license exists solely to operate and improve the platform.
Content Standards
You are solely responsible for your User Content. You represent and warrant that your content:
- Does not infringe any third-party intellectual property, privacy, or other rights
- Is not unlawful, defamatory, harassing, obscene, or fraudulent
- Does not contain malware, harmful code, or deceptive elements
- Complies with all applicable laws and regulations
We reserve the right to remove content that violates these standards without prior notice.
6 Subscriptions & Payments
Reader Subscriptions
Readers may subscribe to a creator's library to access subscription-gated content. Subscriptions are billed monthly and automatically renew until cancelled. All payments are processed securely through Stripe.
Creator Subscription Plans
Creators may set up subscription plans for their readers. Leafzine facilitates payment processing and distributes earnings to creators according to the payout schedule and our revenue share terms.
Refunds
All fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us within 30 days of the charge.
Fee Changes
We reserve the right to modify platform fees or revenue share percentages with reasonable advance notice.
7 Ad Marketplace
Leafzine operates an ad marketplace where creators can sell ad inventory within their publications, and advertisers can run campaigns targeting readers.
Advertisers
By launching an ad campaign, you agree that your ad content complies with these Terms and all applicable advertising laws and standards. You are responsible for the accuracy of all ad creatives, claims, and destination URLs. Leafzine reserves the right to reject or remove any ad at our discretion.
Publishers (Inventory Owners)
By listing ad inventory, you grant advertisers permission to display approved campaigns within your publications. The platform revenue share is 30% to Leafzine and 70% to the publisher, applied to all ad spend generated through your inventory.
Ad Spend & Balances
Ad account balances are non-refundable once campaigns have launched and spend has been recorded. Unspent balances may be used for future campaigns.
8 Earnings & Payouts
Creators earn revenue through reader subscriptions and ad placements. Payouts are subject to the following conditions:
- A minimum accumulated balance of $100.00 is required before a payout is issued
- Payouts are processed by Leafzine administrators on a rolling basis
- You must provide accurate and verified banking or PayPal information to receive payouts
- Leafzine is not responsible for delays caused by incorrect payout information
- We reserve the right to withhold payouts if we suspect fraudulent activity or policy violations pending investigation
9 Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any regulations
- Upload, publish, or distribute content that is infringing, defamatory, obscene, or harmful to minors
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the platform
- Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to access or collect data from the Service
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features of the platform
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation
- Engage in any activity that artificially inflates ad impressions, clicks, or subscription metrics
- Transmit spam, unsolicited messages, or promotional material to other users
- Upload content containing viruses, malware, or other harmful software
Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate account suspension or termination and, where appropriate, legal action.
10 Intellectual Property
All elements of the Leafzine platform — including the brand, logo, interface design, software, and underlying technology — are owned by or licensed to Leafzine and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from any part of the platform without our express written permission.
11 Termination
You may delete your account at any time from your Account Settings. Upon deletion, your published content will be removed and your account data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if we discontinue the Service. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of any fees paid.
12 Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Leafzine shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total fees you paid to Leafzine in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) $100 USD.
13 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
If you are located in the European Union, you retain rights under applicable EU consumer protection and data protection laws that cannot be waived by contract.
14 Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and may notify you via email or an in-app notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
